The best souvenir brings back a particular moment: a flavour from an island stop, a small piece you chose together, or something you will use at home. Leave room in your day to browse and choose a few things you genuinely like.

Bring home a taste of Aegina

If your trip takes you to Aegina, look for the island's pistachios. Ask where they were grown and try a flavour or preparation that appeals to you. Pistachio sweets can make another small gift, but check the ingredients if allergies matter.

Aegina pistachios have protected designation of origin status. Look at the producer and labelling rather than assuming every pistachio product sold on the island has the same origin.

Choose flavours you will use

Olive oil, olives, herbs and honey can be enjoyable reminders of Greek meals. Think about how you cook at home: a smaller product you will open and enjoy is often a better choice than a large bottle bought only for its packaging. Ask about its origin, ingredients and storage.

Find a piece with a personal connection

For something that lasts, browse ceramics, jewellery, prints or textiles and ask about the maker. Where was it made? Is it handmade or a reproduction? Choose because you like the object and its story, without assuming that a Greek design means it was made locally.

Leave room for the journey home

Consider weight, breakage and luggage space before buying. Ask the shop to pack fragile items for travel. Check your airline's baggage rules and your destination's import rules before choosing food, liquids or larger purchases.

Make shopping part of the visit

A few unhurried minutes around an island waterfront or a neighbourhood shop can be more enjoyable than a separate shopping mission. On an organised excursion, keep your return-to-boat time in mind. Purchases and shop visits are independent choices unless explicitly included in your ticket.
